Ingredients
16cut-out hearts from your choice of bread
4eggs, lightly beaten
½teaspoonpure vanilla extract
1tablespoonunsalted butter
Instructions
Heat half the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. When butter starts to sizzle, dip your the hearts in the egg mixture until they're completely soaked. Place on hot skillet and don't touch them for at least 2 minutes or until bottom is golden brown. Flip then cook on other side until also golden brown.
Transfer hearts to a plate and cook second batch. Sprinkle powdered sugar all over the hearts and drizzle Nutella* all over.
Notes
*Nutella trick: Place Nutella in a plastic bag and give it a good couple of squeezes with your hands to warm it up. Then cut just the tip of one of the ends of the plastic bag off to drizzle over french toast. This will help your Nutella drizzle nicely. If you don't want to do Nutella, consider other toppings: unsweetened (or sweetened coconut flakes, chopped nuts, creamy peanut butter and oats, whipped cream, sprinkles (if you're in my house), honey, jam, and any number of fresh sliced fruit (bananas, strawberries, apples and cinnamon, raspberries, etc.).
