With only 15 minutes required from start to finish, these Turkey and Cheese Crescent Rolls are the perfect sandwiches to make using whatever turkey leftovers you have on hand! Plus, the honey mustard dipping sauce is divine!

You know what I like? Having an emergency meal in my back pocket. The one where you're too tired to do anything, where even calling Domino's is too much effort. A meal that you don't have to make a special grocery store run for multiple ingredients. And something that your family will actually eat. There's nothing worse than being worn slap out from a day of working, you muster up the energy to make dinner, and then the kids eat approximately two bites of your major accomplishment for the day.

The turkey and ham crescent rolls recipe is one of those meals that's kid-friendly and adult-approved. I mean, who doesn't like eating turkey with melty cheese wrapped in a soft and buttery crescent roll with a sweet and tangy honey mustard sauce? You think I'm a monster?!

Behold the Power of Turkey and Cheese Crescent Rolls

    • These take 15 minutes. That's 15 minutes from start to finish. I can't think of a dinner I can make that quickly. It's faster than ordering Domino's. Plus, you don't have to listen to their hold music.
    • Perfect for leftovers. Don't be scared to use whatever you have in your fridge. I used leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, and we ate these when we were sick of eating turkey plain. There's no shame in the game for using your kid's sliced lunch turkey or ham either.
    • Very economical. Using leftovers is the perfect way to save money when you would have thrown out the food. Crescent rolls are a couple of dollars, so you're feeding a family of 4 for under $5. You can pretend your fancy and say these are warm turkey and cheese croissants.
    • These crescent rolls bring turkey back to life. You know how roast turkey can be a little dry? Even the turkey that you cook really well is on the drier side because that's just the nature of turkey. I think it's because the turkey in these crescent rolls end up steaming inside the crescent roll, but you'll be shocked at how moist your leftover turkey is inside these crescent rolls. I swear.

If you like this recipe, it's along the same lines as these Roast Beef Sliders that use deli roast beef and mozzarella cheese that's then baked on Hawaiian rolls. That's another great recipe to keep in your back pocket. I serve with potato chips as the kids' vegetable, and they look like they just won a million dollars.

    Ingredients You'll Need

You need just a few ingredients to make these tasty turkey crescent rolls. Don't be afraid to use whatever you have available to you in your fridge, too.

    • honey
    • Dijon mustard
    • package of crescent rolls
    • pre-cooked, leftover turkey - I use roasted turkey but you can also used deli sliced turkey as well.
    • Swiss cheese - I buy the sliced Swiss in a package.

That's it! The recipe card below will have the exact quantities as well as the detailed directions!

How to Make Turkey and Cheese Crescent Rolls

Here are some visual directions that show you just how easy these turkey and Swiss crescent rolls are to throw together.

Step 1 of the directions that show honey mustard being placed on the base of the crescent triangle.
    1. Step 1: Make honey mustard by combining equal parts honey with equal parts Dijon mustard. Place spoonful on base of crescent roll.
Step 2 of the directions that shows chunks of turkey placed on top of the honey mustard.
    1. Step 2: Place your pre-cooked turkey on top of the honey mustard.
Step 3 of the collage that shows a a folded half of Swiss cheese being placed on top of the turkey.
    1. Step 3: Cover that with a folded half-slice of cheese. You can also use shredded cheese here.
step 4 in the collage that shows the honey mustard, turkey, and cheese getting rolled up into a neat bundle.
    1. Step 4: Starting with the base, roll the turkey and cheese around the crescent roll dough.

    1. Step 5: Bake at 375˚F for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with extra honey mustard sauce for dipping.

Special Note: You don't need to brush the crescent rolls with butter or an egg wash. There's so much butter in the crescent rolls that they will naturally come out a beautiful golden brown.

Make These Turkey and Cheese Crescent Rolls Your Own

    • Sub your favorite cheese. Don't like Swiss cheese? Consider cheddar, gruyere, or Brie. There are so many delicious combos.
    • Use ham instead. Have leftover Christmas ham? Ham and cheese crescent rolls with honey mustard would be equally as delicious.
    • Use leftovers from Thanksgiving or Christmas. Add a little spoonful of cranberry sauce or even a handful of stuffing. These would make delicious sandwiches using leftovers the day after Thanksgiving or Christmas.
    • Make these sandwiches festive. These are cute crescent roll sandwiches to serve at a party. Red and green can easily be achieved through a little bit of cranberry garnished with fresh rosemary sprigs!
    • Use fresh herbs. I made these turkey and cheese crescent rolls very simply because that's my children's favorite, but feel free to add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme inside the crescent rolls for some extra seasoning.

    Storage

The turkey and cheese croissants are best as soon as they come out of the oven (okay, maybe 2 minutes if you can wait that long!). You can make them the morning of and pack them in your kid's lunchbox with an ice pack. I wouldn't make the turkey crescent rolls ahead under any other circumstance though.

    FAQ

Can I make these turkey and cheese sandwiches in a toaster oven?

Absolutely! You can bake them the same way you would in a conventional oven.

Can I use different cheese or meat?

Yes, this is a very versatile recipe. Make these your own (ideas above!) and just follow the same process.

Should I use shredded or sliced cheese?

Either works. I prefer the slice of cheese because it melts more evenly and often creates a glob of melty cheese that makes me happy.

Can I make these in advance for my kid's lunch?

Yes. I would not recommend making them more than a day ahead though. Of course, after they come out of the oven, they'll need to cool. Once they cool, they'll need to be refrigerated like any other meat-based sandwich in a lunchbox.

    Other Speedy Meals to Make

My rose sauce is also a quick recipe to throw into some pasta. I also like to buy frozen falafel and make a falafel platter with various vegetables and dips and let the kids pick at the platter for dinner.

Ham and potato soup is perfect for using leftover ham. Throw it in with some frozen vegetables and seasoning, and you've got yourself an absolutely delicious and comforting bowl of soup.

...and that's all that was left of these things, y'all. Why can't anyone eat the last bite? And more importantly, why does my family insist on biting something and putting it back on the tray??!
